By: RoryD  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2013   Rating:

Robust, innovative, quality 4-season tent so not cheap - although we got it for less than the £350-£370 you can get it for on-line, by trading in a really knackered old tent through Terra Nova's exchange scheme.

Light weight for its performance, we've used it both solo and two-up - excellent for cycle-touring / sea kayaking, and well suited to exposed coastal wild camping. It doesn't flap and it is surprisingly spacious for two - although head & leg room can be a bit cosy when the inner is fully zipped and both want to sit up. Excellent porches for storage (easily taking all gear for 2 on cycling trip) - and having 2 entrances with midge netting/ flexible fly zips is great for ventilation. We usually use a groundsheet footprint from an earlier tent as the groundsheet is very thin and looks vulnerable - and it's good to have groundsheet for the porches.

Only negatives are (i) the pegs - which are ridiculous small/thin wire things that would be hopeless in heather/ tussock/ moss and would be so easy to lose (we use pegs from an old tent instead) - and (ii) a slight drip from lower down the fly's front zips into the porch area in heavy rain (seam sealant may cure that).

It's a tent you can feel safe and secure in whatever the weather - without the weight of a traditional geodesic design.
